Series Rules

Rules changes are highlighted in green !

1.  All races are to be held on Sunday nights at 8:30 P.M. EST.. with 30 minutes of practice, qualifying, 5 minutes of warm up and race thereafter.

2.  The races will be 40% in length, full pace laps, open setups, realistic damage, and yellows on at all tracks with the exception of the road courses they will be moderate damage and no yellows.

3.  When exiting the pits stay below the white line and re-enter traffic when your spotter tells you can merge. (Please use the auto chat key to notify other drivers when exiting and entering the pits.)

4.  The race schedule will follow the Nascar Winston Cup schedule as closely as possible. If the Winston Cup schedule runs a track that is not part of the game we will put all the tracks that are run only once in a hat and draw one out.

5.  At the time of the all-star race (The Winston) in May, a similar non-points event will be held.

6. Double file starts and restarts with no passing until you have reached the start/finish line. A consistent speed will be maintained while under the yellow flag with a .5 second distance between the cars.

6-a. If your car is severely damaged you are expected to let the driver behind you pass using your auto chat (pass me low or pass me high).

7.  If for some reason you are having connections problems or need to re-boot your computer let the Race Stewart (LCM3) or the President (Freakyd) know. Make sure you have their attention and get acknowledgement back from them before you leave the practice session. You may re-enter the race even after qualifying or race has started. If you re-enter during qualifying you will have to take a provisional. If you re-enter during the race you will start a lap down.

7-a. If more than 2 people get booted  from the server when WE GO TO QUALIFYING we will restart 1 time and 1 time only with a minimal amount of practice time.

7-b. Because of server limitations when renting a server time slot we will not be able to restart the race for drivers who get booted.

8.  If you are told by 3 different racers that you are warping. You will go to the pits and stay there until your connection improves, if  it does improve you may return to race. If it does not improve you will be expected to exit the race gracefully.

9.  Points will be awarded in the same manner as they are scored by the final standings. If for some reason some scoring problems do occur we will straighten them out after the race is completed and adjust the standings as fair as possible for all involved. If a race is missed, points will be issued as last place. Last place points will be defined as the first position below the number in the starting field size.

10.  In the event of a race protest. You must save the replay and final standings and forward them to all of the Board of Directors. All protest and replays must be submitted within 72 hours to all of the Board of Directors in writing. The Protest will be resolved by the Board Of Directors before the start of the next race.

11.  If for any reason someone drops out of the league during the season. A replacement driver will be allowed to join and will receive last place points for every race to that point.

12.  Cars that are 2 or more laps down, if  a yellow flag flies  with 10 laps or less to go in the race, the cars that are 2 or more laps down will pit on the second lap of the caution and come to a complete stop on pit road and return to the track.

13.  Racing back to the yellow flag is allowed. As long as it can be done safely without causing a wreck.

14.  NO FLAMING OR CURSING WILL BE TOLERATED. Cursing during the race will result in an EJECTION from the race with no points scored.

15.  Gentleman's agreement to allow a car 1 lap down back on the lead lap if a caution flies and the leader can do it safely. This is not a rule but an agreement it is up to the leaders discretion whether or not to allow a car back on the lead lap.

16.  No drivers meeting is mandatory at this time. You are expected to go to Paltalk/SBL room before the race. Please don't wait in the Lobby of the game.

17. SBL will meet in the Sierra East Alpha/Lobby 6 before entering the race server.

18. SBL League rule changes will be made by the Board Of Directors or vote of the league members.

19. Anything not covered by these rules the board of directors will refer to the Oscar rules.

20. The purpose of this League is to provide a good environment for drivers to have fun and enjoy on-line racing. If you are not having fun we are  doing something wrong.

21. The Yellow Line at Daytona and Talladega is out of bounds. If you go below the yellow and gain an advantage you will penalized for it. If for some reason you go below the yellow to avoid a wreck or are forced below it and gain an advantage by it. You must allow the car you passed back in the position he was in before you went below the yellow line. This should be done before the start/finish line if possible or as soon as possible. Going below the yellow is defined as 2 tires below the yellow line. The penalty for this infraction will be: The penalized car will be scored in last place.

SBL reserves the right to make adjustments to the rules as needed to make this a better league to race in.
